About Bell & Bow

Bell & Bow Music, LLC, was founded in 2017 by David Bernard to provide a guided and curated musician contracting experience to brides, event planners, music directors, and venue coordinators. A classically trained trumpet player, David has over a decade of performing experience and believed there was room in the wedding planning industry for a trusted voice to promote the best professional classical and jazz musicians in Southwest and West Michigan.

The musicians that partner with Bell & Bow are all highly trained, highly experienced, and have been performing for years. All have spent considerable time earning music degrees at top universities and programs across the Midwest and the country, and now perform in some of the region's most acclaimed orchestras, chamber ensembles, jazz groups, and touring bands.

Founder and owner

David Bernard

As an accomplished and versatile musician, David Bernard is passionate about the state of the performing arts in West Michigan and the education of musicians young and old. With particular interest in sharing business development tips and strategies with his fellow working musicians, his mission with Bell & Bow is two-fold: provide the best possible experience to clients seeking professional musicians for their events, and provide the best working experience to the musicians with whom he partners.

He received his bachelor's degree in music performance from Western Michigan University. David has extensive performance experience in Southwest Michigan pit orchestras, is a core member of the Kalamazoo Brass Collective, and is the acting principal trumpet of the Kalamazoo Philharmonia.

David is also the Lead High Brass Instructor at Kalamazoo Kids in Tune, an "El Sistema-inspired" orchestral immersion after-school program presented by the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Communities in Schools and Kalamazoo Public Schools. He lives with his wife and son in Kalamazoo.
